REFLECTION
In reflecting on English Comp One I realized that I have learned
many new concepts to writing. There are three things that I have gained the most
knowledge about; mind mapping, outlines, and thesis statements.
First, I learned how to use mind mapping to my advantage. When I
started this class all my ideas would be jumbled up in my head. I would have no
idea of where to start for my essays. I can now jot down the ideas in my head,
and then pick the topics that best go together to start an essay.
Second, I have learned how to create an outline that I can
understand and follow for an essay. After learning how to do mind mapping, I
have learnt how to use those ideas to pick the best topics to put in the correct
order to create an outline. Once I learnt how to do that I can now look back at
my outline to remind me how I want my essay to
read.
Last but defiantly not least, I have learned what a thesis
statement is, and how to write one correctly. When I started this class I really
did not understand what a thesis statement was. I now understand that it
explains what the person will be reading about in the essay or paper.
In conclusion, although I have learned many concepts about
writing, the biggest thing I have learned was about how to organize an essay
from the thoughts in my head to a final draft that makes sense to the reader
including a thesis statement.
